CHRISTmas Music...
Friday, December 9, 2011 Hello everyone,
I am looking forward to continuing the series "FaceTime" this Sunday. We all know how important the CHRISTmas season is to us and what would it be without the music, carols and songs.
I read story earlier in the week where a music teacher in a public school changed the words of "Deck the Halls". The teacher wanted to specifically change the portion of "...don we now our gay apparel". I wonder if someone will try and change up the obviously politically incorrect "Up on the Housetop"???
These songs and carols bring us all together. They bring us face to face. They help us to enjoy the moment and remember memories and people in our past.
Songs are more than words, and such is worship. There is much that goes into worship and we are going to look at some powerful things about ourselves and worship this Sunday during "FaceTime".
This year's CHRISTmas program will be held Sunday night the 18th at 6 PM.
We'll have a CHRISTmas Eve candlelight and communion service at 5 PM on the 24th.
Use this season to reach out and invite someone to church. Invite someone into your home and life for the real meaning of CHRISTmas. You can't measure up, but you can treasure up. Each of us have something to offer the King. Give yourself as a gift to Christ and those around you.
We will be having a couple of Baptisms this Sunday. If you've never been baptized; what a great time to finally obey God! I was excited a couple of weeks ago when one of the homeless men came and said he needed to be baptized. It truly was Powerful and Beautiful. He brought no extra clothes, but we found him some and he said YES to Jesus. I saw him on Tuesday night at the shelter and he is still so very thankful.
Last thing:
For a fun project I am needing each of you if possible to email your favorite Christmas song. I would like one spiritual song (holy night, Silent night etc) and also one traditional song (jingle bells, blue CHIRSTmas, etc). One of each or go ahead and suggest two if you can not decide! Email or text me your choices!
Have a great weekend!!!
