What Happened to Kayla?
Saturday, October 16, 2010 In this years Judgment Night presentation you saw a character named Kayla. Kayla made some very dramatic choices and decisions in her life. All of her choices were progressive, as each one opened the door for the next.
Kayla first made a choice to reject Christ and her faith. She bought the lie that it was all fake. Even though her parents were Christian and went to church she never did surrender to the Lordship of Jesus.
Kayla chose friends and a lifestyle that was totally opposite of her faith. She had been in church and even done many good works. She wanted to be seen as mature and have more freedom. That freedom and maturity allowed her to make her own choice and that choice was to turn from God and His people.
The absence of a living faith and the influence of unbelievers on her faith led her to choose to take and text nude pictures of herself. She foolishly thought this would somehow win her a place in a guy’s heart, but in the end that choice took her away from all of her family, friends and those who really loved her.
When discovering her mistake and how she had been betrayed Kayla could not handle the thought of her dad knowing what she had done, and what those in her community would think of her.
Kayla chose death in every situation, and in doing so it lead to eternal death which is separation from God.
Kayla rejected the love of Christ. She rejected the wisdom of Christ through her dad. She rejected the fellowship of Christ by rejecting Christian friends, and pleasing those who did not know God.
Matthew chapter seven tells us that there would be those that would say "Lord Lord I have done many mighty works... But Jesus said depart, I never knew you..."
We are not saved by our works. We are not saved by our intentions either. We are saved through our faith in Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is the Way, Truth, and Life. God gives us a promise that if we call on Him, He will answer us and show us great and mighty things (Jeremiah 33:3).
There will be some that come to Judgment Night this year that will be familiar with Kayla's story. We want you to know there is hope for you, love for you, and that Jesus is for you. If you see yourself making the same choices as Kayla, do you think you will do so and get different results?
Kayla's life did not change when she decided to text pictures of herself. It did not change when those pictures were sent to everyone in her school.
Her life changed when she decided to reject Jesus and ignore the salvation call on her life.
Scripture teaches that God allows us to choose between life and death, blessing and cursing.... We pray that you choose life, choose Jesus and Live!
